The world turns and the Jook Joint Band turns with it.
We would like to welcome Larry George to the band as our new lead guitarist. Larry comes with a diverse musical background having played in rock, ska and blues bands over a number of years in and around Perth. Larry replaces Pas Serafino who played and sang with JJB for the past five years. And so the world turns.
We thank Pas for his contribution to the band and wish him all the best in his future musical endeavours.
The band had a great start to the year with a gig at the Parkerville Tavern. It was a perfect day nestled under the big gum trees with a good and enthusiastic crowd. They know their blues up there in the hills. We had one guy who sat Sean down and gave him the full and correct history of what a “Cake Walk” is. Sean has been misdirecting audiences for years giving his version of what a Cakewalk is.
We followed up in March with a gig at the Boddington Music Festival. This festival is an annual event put on by the local shire and festival support group. They do a great job in organising the festival at the Boddington Old School Oval. JJB and the Ensemble Formidable (a whacky high energy and talented group of 8 musoes who push the envelope) together with Ruby Boots who got up there with her ever impressive musical display of alt-country. We all enjoyed our stay in Boddington as the town’s people went out of their way to make us welcome in their characterful quiet country town nestled in the back of the hills behind Pinjarra.
Jook Joint Band is practicing hard bringing Larry up to speed with our repertoire and getting him acquainted with the various and many idiosyncrasies of the band members (that is the hard part). Peter and Bill are both off and away on their annual jaunts soon and won’t return until late July. We are looking forward to gigs at the Mukinbudin Spring Festival in mid-September followed up by a private party in Boddington. In early November we will be back playing at the 2015 Canning Show. We will also be playing a few gigs in and around Perth at dates to be advised.
We look forward to presenting you with the new Joint Jook Band line-up at our next gig near you. See you and your party attitude there!
